Will County to consider video poker ban

August 7, 2009 The state of Illinois just legalized video poker to pay for a massive $31 billion construction program. But communities were given the power to prohibit them.

The chairman of the Will County board, Jim Moustis, wants a complete ban on the machines in unincorporated areas. He says this form of gambling creates a significant burden on the county.

Next Thursday, the board will begin deliberations on the subject.

The machines could bring in $400 million a year for the state of Illinois.
