Governor Pat Quinn said on Tuesday he wants University of Illinois trustees to take a few more days before resigning. The governor said the trustees should have a few days to reflect on his call for their resignations. On Friday, Quinn told them to voluntarily resign after a state panel recommended all the trustees leave amid allegations that some pushed to get less qualified students admitted to the school. Only three trustees have resigned and six remain.

Governor Quinn stressed that the situation is a very serious matter, but did not say what he would do if the trustees do not quit.
