A woman who was one of the whistleblowers in the contaminated drinking water scandal in Crestwood has turned to politics.Tricia Krause announced Tuesday that she is running for a seat on the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District. She said her focus will be to bring environmental accountability and leadership to the district.

In December, Krause filed numerous freedom of information requests, which produced documents that showed Crestwood officials used water from a tainted well to supplement treated Lake Michigan water.

The well has since been capped.
