UofC Med. Ctr. CEO stepping down

August 14, 2009 (CHICAGO) Doctor James Madara's resignation was announced in an internal memo. It takes effect October first. He will remain on the faculty.

The U. of C. Medical Center made major budget cuts earlier this year. The $100 million cuts from the budget which resulted in 450 layoffs.

Madara had held the post of medical center CEO since 2006. In the internal memo that went out Friday morning, University of Chicago President Robert Zimmer praised Madara's leadership.
