Traffic was just starting to return to normal Friday evening on the outbound Edens Expressway after two were closed for several hours due to an accident.Illinois state police say two cars were hit with concrete from the overpass at Dempster in Skokie, Ill.

The Illinois Department of Transportation sent crews to the scene. However, authorities have not yet released details on how the concrete fell onto the cars.

No one was injured in the accident, but three lanes of traffic were reduced to one on the outbound side, causing traffic to backup for miles.

All lanes have reopened. Although there was still a traffic back up early in the evening, the situation had improved for commuters heading home.
