Rally held to save Robbins library

August 18, 2009 Community members joined in a prayer circle today outside the William Leonard Public Library in Robbins. It may have to shut down at the end of the month because it is funded by dwindling property tax revenues.

"Our students need this library. This is where they come at the end of the school day. This is where they do their homework. This is where we are internet-connected," said Patricia Coatney, library administrator.

"Please help us. I read and write here everyday. This is an emergency," said Shawna Lewis, library patron.

The children who use the library helped organize Tuesday's press conference. They have also written letters to president Obama asking if he can help.
