Chicago Mayor Richard Daley went to Washington D.C. Wednesday to urge the federal government to help cities fight what he calls "urban terrorism." He told Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano that gangs, guns and drugs are behind the majority of violence in many cities.

"She's a former governor, a former U.S. attorney, understands the complexity of gangs drugs and guns coming from Arizona, she has a hands on attitude," said Daley.

The mayor says the federal government needs to take a balanced approach to fighting crime. He says it needs to focus not only international terrorists but also on gang leaders and drug dealers threatening people in cities around the country.
