Crews could do little to save that building, which burned to the ground. However, they were able to stop the fire from spreading.
No one was hurt.
The residents of a nearby home were evacuated as a precaution.
"The building just went up so quick," evacuated resident Javier Garcia said.
"It looks like the majority of the tires have been consumed, but there are still hotspots and the walls and the roof of the building have collapsed, so we're working to extinguish all the fire," Joliet Fire Department Chief Joe Formhals said.
An investigation is now underway into what sparked this fire. Because of the size of the fire, Joliet officials plan to call in agents from the Department of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms for help in their investigation.
