Activity might help elderly combat dizziness

September 9, 2009 Half of women 70 and older report feeling dizzy while the number is about 40 percent for men of that age.

In the study in the Journal of Gerontology, researchers found physical activity whether at heavier or lighter levels --seemed to benefit elders with dizziness. Those seniors also reported better quality of life and had a decreased risk of falling.

Scientist's say dizziness is a powerful variable in the lives of older people and caregivers should encourage seniors to participate in daily physical activity.
