CTA approves $4.3M for surveillance

The CTA wants to install security cameras at all 144 of its train stations.The agency's board has approved a $4.3 million contract with a Texas-based corporation to install high-resolution cameras.

The agency has received more than $17 million dollars in federal homeland security funds to increase its surveillance capabilities.

The first cameras are expected to be in place by the end of the year in 17 Green Line stations.

The CTA hopes to complete the project by May 31, 2010.
