Deadly shooting in Orland Park

September 19, 2009 (ORLAND PARK, Ill.) Police say one person is in custody, but there's an intense search under way for a second person.

Authorities would not confirm whether or not that alleged second shooter who fled on foot was in custody.

In the meantime, the south suburban major crimes task force has joined Orland Park police in their investigation.Authorities were trying Saturday evening to determine if the attack was the result of a home invasion.

Calls to 911 came in shortly after 2 a.m. Saturday about shots fired at a condominium unit at 9735 Ravinia Court. Police say two men were shot. A 20-year-old man, whom police say lived in the unit, was taken to the hospital and died.

The other 19-year-old man was also transferred to the hospital by paramedics.

Neighbors say there were always a lot of people coming and going to the victim's condo unit, but they were surprised to hear about the attack.

"To me it sounded like a little .22, maybe a .25 going off, and then the next thing we know, we hear the sirens and we wonder why? What's going on? I just hope they can find the guy and make it a little bit more safe," said neighbor Jon Cole. "The neighborhood has been pretty safe. We've been here three years, and this is the first incident with the police with the shooting."

The 19-year-old man remained hospitalized Saturday night, but his condition was not known.

Police said they had a vague description of the alleged second shooter but, again, would not confirm whether or not he or she was in custody.
