Volvo adds new braking feature

September 28, 2009 Volvo says the new S-60 sedan will include an automatic braking system that can bring the car to a sudden and complete emergency stop if it detects another car or a person is in its path.

Current collision avoidance systems only slow down a vehicle's speed.

Volvo's full auto brake function will come to a full stop when the car is traveling at speeds less than 15-miles per hour.

If the car is traveling faster, it will come as close to a complete stop as possible.

Volvo's full auto brake function will be introduced with the new s-60 sedan next year.
