Bone marrow recipient meets her donor

October 4, 2009 (MAYWOOD, Ill.) Rosalind Beard of Melrose Park owes her life to Tim Crawford and his bone marrow donation. Beard, a 37-year-old mother of four, recently underwent a marrow transplant for Hodgkin's lymphoma.

She says meeting Crawford was an unexpected bonus.

"I'm very happy, very excited. I'm so glad that I was able to thank the person that gave me their stem cells. I didn't know it was going to be like this," Beard said.

"As you can see, the outcome is rewarding, it's satisfying, and we've got to do it," said Crawford.

Tim Crawford lives in Georgia. He said he learned of the national marrow donor program through his church.
