Runner Ryan Snellen of Nashville was leading the race, but true love caused him to make a detour. Ryan suddenly stopped, grabbed a bouquet of roses and ran over to his girlfriend, Lauren Peck.
Then, he dropped to his knee to propose. Lauren screamed. She was surprised but calmed down enough to say 'yes.'
"[I was] completely shocked but proud of him for winning," the bride-to-be said.
"As long as she was surprised and said yes, that's all I wanted," said Ryan Snellen.
Although he was leading, Ryan said he wasn't focused on the race as much as he was on the proposal.
Lauren and Ryan plan to get married some time next summer.
