The Geneva school board has disciplined a high school teacher who admitted to making a bigoted remark about gays during class. Consumer education teacher Dave Burk received a letter of reprimand.

Burk came under fire last week after an openly gay student complained to the school district about Burk using a derogatory term to describe homosexuals. The remark came in class lectures on government subsidies for the arts.

Burk read a letter of apology to students in each of his classes Tuesday.
