Quinn announces federal weatherization funds

Gov. Quinn has announced another $242 million for the Illinois Home Weatherization Assistance Program. The money comes from the federal government.The Illinois program reduces heating and cooling costs for low income families by improving the energy efficiency of their homes.

Weather-stripping, insulating attics and replacing windows are among the things that can be done to help.

Priority is given to households with high heating bills and those with elderly members, persons with a disability or young children.
