Midnight Circus kicks off Chicagoween

October 23, 2009 (CHICAGO) In the Windy City, ghouls and goblins transform Daley Plaza into Franken Plaza for more than week to celebrate the spooky season. And that's just the start of the frightful fun!

Chicagoween, the city-sponsored festival with dozens of events across the city, runs Friday October 23 to Saturday, October 31.

The largest celebration is held at Franken Plaza, 50 West Washington Street. The highlights include performances by the Midnight Circus, mask making demonstrations, the harvest market and arts and crafts for kids (see schedules below).

Several other Chicagoween events also take place in parks across the city, including pumpkin patches, haunted houses, and candy giveaways.

Even library branches, museums, and the Chicago Cultural Center get in on the fun. Check out the list of events at chicagoween.us
