Scratch-off game benefits vets

October 28, 2009 (CHICAGO) It's a new veterans' cash scratch off game that will benefit Illinois veterans; 100-percent of the net proceeds will help them.

The lottery money is placed in a fund and organizations that help homeless veterans, disabled veterans, veterans in need of other services like job training can apply for the money.

The ticket went on sale earlier this month.

"Many people in our state, with 13 million citizens enjoy playing(the lottery). this is something while they enjoy playing the lottery, they can also do something very, very important," said Governor Pat Quinn.

People who buy the ticket can win a top prize of $20,000.
