Quinn called closed door meeting for transit agencies

November 3, 2009 (CHICAGO) Top officials from the Chicago Transit Authority, PACE and METRA attended the closed door meeting.

The Governor said he wants to make sure a comprehensive funding agreement is developed that puts transit agencies on sound financial footing while preserving free rides for those who need them.

Both CTA and METRA said it will have to raise fares next year if additional funding is not provided. While PACE isn't planning to increase suburban bus fares, it is looking to raise paratransit fares and cut some bus routes.
