AAA: More Americans traveling over Thanksgiving

November 18, 2009 It projects that about 38 million Americans will travel at least 50 miles over the long holiday weekend. That's a slight increase over last year.

Thirty-three million will travel by car, a 2 percent increase over a year ago.

However, the number of people flying over Thanksgiving will be down from last year at just over 2 million travelers.

Money concerns, reduced airline capacity, and new airline fees are some of the reasons.

AAA says just under 3 million people will travel by trains and buses.
