Wells Fargo hosts mortgage workshop

November 19, 2009 (CHICAGO) Wells Fargo/ Wachovia is holding a workshop for its customers who have problems with their mortgages from December 1 to 3 at McCormick Place in Chicago. Download the handout (PDF)

The company has sponsored similar events in Phoenix and Atlanta and had more than 4,300 people attend. According to Wells Fargo, experts were able to help a majority of those people find a solution.

What the workshop offers:

  • Customers can meet face-to-face with people who can make immediate decisions about mortgage payment reductions.
  • More than 200 Wells Fargo specialists will be able to assess individual situations and -- where possible- reduce mortgage payments for customers facing hardships.
  • Independent counselors will help borrower s manage debt.

    People interested in attending the workshop can sign up for appointments online at wfhmevents.com/leadingthewayhome or by calling 1-800-405-8067. Online registration is available 24 hours a day until midnight on November 28. Telephone registration is available Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will close on Friday, November 27. Walk-ins are also welcome, but registration is highly recommended.

    When registered, customers will receive an appointment time and instructions on what to bring to the workshop including:

  • A letter explaining their situation
  • A list of their assets and expenses
  • Most recent income tax return with all schedules and W-2s
  • Two most recent bank statements
  • Two most recent pay stubs (if they receive them) or documentation of income received from other sources (e.g. alimony or child support)
  • Monthly mortgage statement showing the servicer information and the mortgage loan number
  • Information about other mortgages on their home, if applicable
  • Account balances and minimum monthly payments due on all of their credit cards
  • Account balances and monthly payments on their other debts (such as student loans and car loans)
  • Estimates of other monthly expenditures (such as utility bills, food expenses, insurance payments and entertainment expenses)

    Note: Those who register online can get their parking paid for if they show a printout of their registration confirmation at the attendant in Lot A. No other parking will be reimbursed for the event.
