Muslims celebrate Eid al-Adha

Chicago-area Muslims and members of the faith worldwide are celebrating Eid al-Adha, the most important date in the Islamic calendar.The day marks the end of the Hajj, the annual pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia.

The holiday is called the festival of sacrifice, and commemorates the Prophet Abraham's willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to god.

Following prayer, there is a tradition of distributing food to the needy.
