National Guard members honored in Chicago

Seventy Illinois National Guard members received freedom salute honors Saturday for their service in Afghanistan.Headquarters Battery, Second Battalion, 122nd Field Artillery trained Afghan army soldiers and performed humanitarian missions.

A general gave the unit an Operation Enduring Freedom banner.

Family members were recognized for their support and sacrifice, and each Guard member received an encased American flag, a commemorative coin, a certificate of appreciation, and a lapel pin.
