The menorah is one of the oldest symbols of the Jewish faith, and the eight-day celebration of Hanukkah, which began on Friday.

The country's national menorah was lit earlier Sunday during a festival of lights ceremony in the nation's capitol.

Sunday's ceremony marked the 30th anniversary of the first national menorah lighting back in 1979.
