The federal government will help fight the invasion of the Asian carp, into the Great Lakes.Just this month, environmental officials poisoned a six-mile section of the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal to keep the invasive fish from getting closer to Lake Michigan.

On Monday, the government announced it would use $13 million to step up the fight. Plans include closing conduits and shoring up low-lying lands between the canal and other waterways.
