Elgin hospital moves patients to new facility

December 15, 2009 (ELGIN, Ill.) Tuesday was moving day for patients from the old hospital to the new one. Ambulances lined up outside the old facility at 934 Center Street to transport patients.

In all, 125 patients were loaded up one by one and driven more than 15 minutes on I-90 and Route 25 to the new hospital on Randall Road.

This is the first new hospital to be built in Kane County in more than a decade. It cost $325 million.

Many of the private patient rooms in the six-floor tower overlook farm land, trees and a 15-acre geothermal lake.
