Critics- including many Republicans- have expressed concerns about safety because suspected terrorists would be moved to Illinois. Senator Dick Durbin responded to critics Wednesday.
"This one will be more secure than any prison currently existing in America, secondly we have over 350 convicted terrorists currently being held in our federal prisons across America and it hasn't caused a ripple of concern. There are 34 convicted terrorists in Illinois," said Durbin.
Supporters of the move say it will create 3,000 jobs.
