The Chicago Fire Department is investigating but says the cause of the fire appears to be electrical.
There were no working smoke detectors in the apartment. That's something that is very important ," said Joe Roccasalva of the Chicago Fire Dept. "A smoke detector was found on the kitchen table with the batteries out."
