Officials outline plan to improve school safety

City and school officials are outlining a new plan to improve school safety in Chicago.The plan has three main goals: to target high risk youths and reduce their risk through mentoring and other support; to improve school culture through programs such as anger-coping classes; and to provide safe passage for students to and from school.

The plan will be funded with $30 million in federal stimulus funds.

This was the event that Mayor Daley was scheduled to attend but cancelled in order to be with his wife at the hospital.
