Communities come together to advance MLK legacy

A large crowd celebrated the legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at a South Side church Sunday.The event took place at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic church on South Kimbark and was hosted by the Illinois-Indiana Regional Organizing Network, whose members include a number of community groups from across the area. The organizers were asking elected officials and political candidates to make commitments on such issues as job creation, affordable housing and transportation.

They said the best way to celebrate the life of Dr. King is would be to continue his work.
