Mudslides and floods in Peru continue to trap hundreds of American tourists, including two women from the Chicago area. The US embassy sent helicopters in to Machu Picchu To help get the stranded tourists out, but the weather is making that very difficult.

Mudslides cut a railway that is the only route to and from a hard to reach area atop an Andean mountain ridge.

Authorities speculate it could be several more days before more than 1,600 tourists from around the world are safely evacuated.
