Illinois lawmakers are considering income limits for the free rides for seniors program.

On Thursday a House committee approved a measure that would make free rides available only for low-income seniors. Those with higher incomes would ride public transportation at half price.

Lawmakers hope this will help bring in more money for transit agencies which are reeling from financial problems. The proposal now goes before the full House.
