A driver is facing serious charges after he reportedly led officers on a chase through several suburban communities overnight.

The pursuit ended just before 5 a.m. Wednesday morning in northwest suburban Elk Grove Village.

The chase apparently started in southwest suburban Oak Lawn when a patrol officer spotted a car without working tail lights.

The driver ran into several vehicles during the pursuit. He finally stopped when his car's front right tire tread was shredded down to the rim.

The driver was then taken into custody.
