Former Chicago alderman Marian Humes dies

Former 8th Ward alderman Marian Humes died over the weekend at a Chicago hospital.

Humes served from 1977 until 1987. She was eventually tried on corruption charges.

Humes was sentenced to two years in prison. She was a school teacher before being elected as an alderman.

Humes' daughter said her mother had cancer and died on Sunday at Little Company of Mary Hospital.
