A 28-year-old Chicago man is now charged in North Side cell phone store burglary that resulted in the death of an officer involved in an accident while responding to the call. Carlos Brown, 28, of the 700-block of South Ashland was charged Sunday with one count of burglary. Brown is charged in the burglary that occurred on Monday, February 22 shortly after 5:30 a.m. in the 3100-block on North Clark Street. Sgt. Alan Haymaker, 56, was responding to that burglary when he was involved in a fatal one-car accident.

Police say Brown was also wanted on two warrants out of Lake County, Illinois.

Police say Brown turned himself in to Chicago police late Thursday night.

A Markham man, 28-year-old Larry Brown, was charged last week in the burglary. The Cook County State's Attorney's Office announced that Larry Brown was ineligible to be charged in Haymaker's death.
