A stressful pregnancy for mom can boost a baby's chance of asthma, according to a new study in the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine.

The study found children born to more stressed out moms had different immune cell responses when stimulated with various common environmental triggers when compared to babies born to mothers reporting less stress.

Scientists said the work may point to the need to design interventions and strategies to reduce stress in pregnant women.
