Firefighters were on the scene of an acid spill Thursday evening in the 12700-block of South Hoyne, a residential area in south suburban Blue Island.

Fire department officials say a man in an apartment was working with chemicals including muriatic acid.

It is not clear what the man was doing. But he was injured along with several other residents. They were taken to the hospital as a precaution.
