Lightning has been ruled out as the cause of a fire that destroyed a Downers Grove apartment building.

The fire Monday night left 33 people without a home. No one was injured.

A caller to 911 told dispatchers that lightning had hit the building. Fire department investigators consulted with an agency that tracks lightning strikes and found there had been none in the area.

Officials say they have not found any evidence of arson.
