A vintage wooden roller coaster that's thrilled generations of Chicago-area families will soon be ready for action again.

The Little Dipper roller coaster is being reassembled at Six Flags Great America in Gurnee. The amusement park purchased the ride when Kiddieland closed last year.

The Little Dipper was built in 1950 and becomes the 14th coaster at Six Flags.

The ride is tentatively scheduled to open Memorial Day weekend.
