Man accused of attacking officer in Gold Coast

April 20, 2010 (CHICAGO)

Investigators say 34-year-old Michael Cacini of Arlington Heights became combative with officers, and he drove away after he grabbed an officer by the vest early Tuesday morning in the Gold Coast. The officer's partner shot at the vehicle, but the driver was not hit.

Cacini was arrested at Dearborn and Division. He faces several charges, including attempted murder and aggravated battery to a police officer.

Cacini is expected to appear in court Wednesday.

The injured officer was treated at a hospital.

Because a Chicago police officer discharged a weapon, the case remains under review by the Independent Police Review Authority.
