Huberman, activists to lobby in Springfield

April 22, 2010 (CHICAGO)

Chicago Public Schools CEO Ron Huberman is going to lobby lawmakers in Springfield. He's asking them not to cut education any further.

Huberman said more education cuts could be devastating to CPS and lead to more layoffs and bigger class sizes.

Also on Thursday, a group boarded buses this morning at St. Sabina on the city's South Side. The church's pastor, Fr. Michael Pfleger, joined them as they headed to rally at the state capitol.

More than 750 youth leaders hand delivered thousands of letters to Governor Pat Quinn in support of a program called Safety Net Works. It provides services to at-risk kids.
