Prayer vigil held for beating victim Natasha McShane

April 29, 2010 (CHICAGO)

People gathered at Old St. Pat's Church in support of Natasha McShane hours after prosecutors said she may never walk or speak again.

McShane was attacked last week along with her friend Stacy Jurich.

Martin Rouine, the consul general of Ireland in Chicago, attended the vigil and has talked to McShane's parents.

"They wanted to express their gratitude for the support they've received in so many areas since this dread attack occurred," said Rouine.

Her mother and father say Natasha McShane is everything a parent could ever wish for in a daughter.

Bond was set at $1million for Marcy Cruz, the woman charged in the attack with her boyfriend, who is being held without bond.
