Two of the six endangered red wolf pups born at Lincoln Park Zoo are on their way to North Carolina Friday.

Once there, they will be released into the wild through the red wolf recovery program. Basically, the pups are paired up with wild wolves, who become foster parents to the animals.

The remaining four pups at Lincoln Park Zoo are not yet visible to the public, but are expected to emerge from their den within the next few weeks.
