'Run and Walk to Remember' event draws thousands

May 1, 2010 (CHICAGO) The 5K event raises funds and awareness for the non-profit Chicago Police Memorial Foundation.

Chicago Police Dept. Supt. Jody Weis was among officials who supported the fundraiser. The foundation aids families of officers who are killed or severely injured in the line of duty.

Later Saturday night, officers and their families dined and danced at the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation Gala in the Columbia Yacht Club.

Like the 'Run and Walk,' the $150-per-person benefit also helps families of officers killed or injured in the line of duty.
