Asian-Pacific American Heritage Month swung into high gear Friday with a big kickoff event.

The organization of Chinese-Americans, along with the Asian-American coalition of Chicago, and other groups joined members of the city's advisory Council on Asian Affairs to highlight this month's calendar of activities.

There were also tours available of the Cambodian Association's Killing Fields Museum.

Four new scholarships are now available to Asian Pacific-American high school seniors. Each scholarship will be worth $2,500.
