Daley made the announcement Wednesday at Howe School of Excellence, where he met some young athletes. He said the city will work with world sport Chicago, which was part of the Olympic bid.
"These new programs build on the track and field and summer programs World Sport Chicago offered last summer and will offer again this summer, which is exciting," said Daley.
The mayor says 12,000 Chicago boys and girl will take part in sports such as archery, gymnastics, swimming, weightlifting, and wrestling.
