Americans face hidden cancer risks each day

Americans are being bombarded with chemicals, gases and radiation that could cause cancer. That's the latest findings of a cancer panel and advisors to President Obama.

The panel suggests many avoidable cancers are caused by pollution, radon from the soil and medical imaging scans.

Since so little is known about cell phones, the panel advises people to wear headsets or limit time on hand-held devices.

The panel also urges the government for more research on environmental contaminants, to raise consumer awareness of environmental cancer risks, and to eliminate unnecessary radiation-emitting medical scans.

Two-thirds of cancer cases are caused by lifestyle choices like smoking, poor diet and lack of exercise.
