Linda Will is the mother of Rashidi Wheeler, who was a Northwestern University football player.
Will hired the law firm Cochran, Cherry, Givens, Smith & Montgomery to press a wrongful death lawsuit against Northwestern when her son died in August 2001.
The law firm is suing Will for more than $116,000, claiming Will failed to pay them during her legal battle which resulted in a $16 million settlement.
Will could not be reached for comment Thursday.
