Law enforcement personnel from up to 60 different departments attended the ninth annual Peace Officers Ceremony in Lyons.
The memorial focuses primarily on those killed within the last year.
This year police honored fallen Chicago officer Alejandro Valadez. He was killed last June as he responded to a call of shots fired.
Also at the ceremony, Cook County State's Attorney Anita Alvarez was presented with the foundation award for her work in criminal justice.
