Boy killed in DUI crash's relatives want mom charged

May 12, 2010 (CHICAGO)

Michael Langford's relatives picketed in front of the Chicago Heights Police Department.

They say the boy's mother, Kathie LaFond, should have been arrested for allowing Cecil Conner to drive the child when she allegedly knew he had been drinking.

A Chicago Heights police officer let him drive away from a traffic stop 40 minutes before the crash.

The LaFond family is suing Conner and the Chicago Heights Police Department. Efforts to reach the family for comment were unsuccessful Wednesday.
